What is Club Mobay in Jamaica and is it Worth It?

If you're traveling to Jamaica, you may have heard about Club Mobay - the VIP airport service promising to whisk you through the airport. But is the cost really justified for a bit of special treatment before or after your flight?

If you know much about Coastal Compass, you know we are Sandals Resorts enthusiasts, which mean we love to visit their Jamaica locations! On a recent trip to Sandals Dunn’s River, we were gifted a Club Mobay pass without fully knowing what to expect. Now having experienced the service firsthand, I can confidently say - Club Mobay is 100% worth it, and we'll never visit Jamaica again without it! We’ll share below what is included in Club Mobay and why we think this service is worth it!

What is Club Mobay?

Club Mobay is an exclusive airport concierge service available at Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport. With both arrival and departure packages, Club Mobay aims to make your first and last impression of Jamaica a memorable one. The service includes:

  • Fast-track through immigration and customs

  • Meet & greet service from your plane

  • Access to a private VIP lounge

  • Complimentary food and drinks

  • Free WiFi

  • And more

In short - Club Mobay takes the hassle out of the airport arrival and departure experience and extends the experience of being taken care of before and after you arrive at a Sandals Resort.

Club Mobay Arrival Service: Here's What to Expect

Club Mobay Arrival Lounge

After touching down in Montego Bay, we deplaned and headed into the terminal. Immediately we spotted the Club Mobay meeting point, where a friendly representative was waiting with a sign printed with our name. We were greeted warmly and escorted directly to the front of the immigration line - bypassing a wait that looked to be long! Within minutes, we were through immigration, had our luggage, and were sipping complimentary Red Stripe beers in the private Club Mobay lounge.

The arrival lounge was modern and inviting with ample seating, free WiFi, charging ports, and even a kids play corner. The real star was the well-stocked bar and buffet. We relaxed until our resort transfer arrived, at which point our rep collected our bags and escorted us to the shuttle. It was a seamless, stress-free arrival that made us feel like true VIPs.

On arrival, we didn’t spend much time in the lounge. Sandals keeps their transport moving so quickly that we were being escorted to the bus within 15 minutes of arriving. However, I personally get over-excited when the plane lands. I don’t want to spend time in the customs line, so this package makes it more than worth it!

Is Club Mobay Departure Service Worth It?

On a previous visit to Jamaica, we experienced the standard departure procedure - long security lines, crowded gates, and a frantic search for available seats. What a difference the Club Mobay departure was!

Club Mobay Departure Lounge

We were fast-tracked through security and immigration after checking our luggage, found out way to the Club Mobay departure lounge. Much like the arrival lounge, included a full bar and buffet. We settled at our own table and helped ourselves to complimentary beverages and snacks from the bar. With a couple hours until boarding, we caught up on emails using the lounge WiFi and even did some last minute souvenir shopping at the lounge's mini gift shop.

How Much Does Club Mobay Cost?

So what does all this VIP treatment cost? As of 2024, pricing for Club Mobay packages are:

  • Arrival Service: $50 per adult, $25 per child

  • Departure Service: $35 per adult, $23 per child

  • Arrival + Departure Bundle: $85 per adult, $48 per child

Children under 2 are free, and rates are subject to change.

While it's not a small sum, I can confidently say the splurge is justified for the level of service and perks you receive. Consider that you're not just paying for the lounge access and fast-track, but for a team to handle all your logistics and deliver thoughtful touches like a personalized greeting sign and escort.

For us, Club Mobay was absolutely worth the cost for the time saved, the comfortable lounge to unwind in, and most of all, the VIP treatment after a long travel day. If you have a little wiggle room in your budget, I highly recommend adding Club Mobay to your trip.

Club Mobay Tips & FAQs

A few tips from our firsthand experience to help you make the most of Club Mobay:

  • Book early. Passes can sell out, especially during peak season, so reserve your spot as soon as you have your flights.

  • You can make Club Mobay reservations on their website or through your travel agent. You'll get an email confirmation to take with you.

  • Be sure to add your flight details during booking so the lounge rep can track your arrival.

  • Tips aren't required, but always appreciated if a rep goes above and beyond for you. A few dollars is the norm.

Some common FAQs about Club Mobay:

Q: How long can you stay in the lounge? A: You're welcome to stay until your flight boards or resort transfer arrives. Plan to arrive at the departure lounge about 2-3 hours before your flight to maximize your time.

Q: Is there a dress code for the lounge? A: No formal dress code. We saw everything from tshirts to sundresses. Whatever you're comfortable flying in is perfect.

Q: Are there vegetarian/kid-friendly options at the food buffet? A: Yes, there were fresh salads, fruit, and simple sandwiches suitable for vegetarians and kiddos. The bar also had juice and soda.

Final Thoughts: So, Is Club Mobay Really Worth It?

After experiencing Club Mobay for ourselves, our answer is a resounding YES! The personalized service, lounge amenities, and time saved made our airport experience downright enjoyable. No battling crowds, no stress, no fuss - just a team of helpful staff catering to our every need.

I think Club Mobay is especially worth it if you're traveling with kids, celebrating a special occasion, or wanting to kickstart your vacation in a great way. And considering you'll likely have spent a decent amount on flights and your resort already, the Club Mobay fee is a relatively small splurge to upgrade your whole travel experience.
