Sandals in Jamaica: A Review of Their 7 Resorts on the Island
You’ll find seven Sandals in Jamaica — the most of any country, as this island is where the brand got it's start. Sandals is a couples only resort experience that offers couples a great blend of luxury and Caribbean culture. They truly take the phrase "all-inclusive" a step above other brands, as each of their resorts includes unlimited gourmet dining, premium drinks, water sports, scuba diving, golf, and more.
If you're thinking of trying out one if their properties, Jamaica is an amazing place to start! Each of the seven resorts on the island has a unique experience, so you're sure to find something perfect what what suites you. While they have three airports to choose from, we prefer arriving in Montego Bay due to the convenience of Sangster International Airport (MBJ) and Sandals' complimentary transfers to the resort.
This guide will look at all of the options, helping you choose the best Sandals resort in Jamaica for your needs. I’ve personally experienced them all and will share insider tips, expert insights, and the best ways to book your Sandals getaway.
Why Choose Sandals Resorts in Jamaica?
All-Inclusive Luxury & Inclusions
Sandals is known for providing a 5-star luxury experience where everything is included. Here’s what you can expect at every Sandals Jamaica resort:
Unlimited Fine Dining: Up to 16 gourmet restaurants per resort with no extra charges.
Premium Beverages: Unlimited top-shelf liquors and Robert Mondavi wines.
Scuba Diving & Water Sports: Complimentary PADI-certified scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, paddleboarding, and more.
Golf Included: Green fees included at Sandals Ochi and Sandals Royal Plantation.
No Kids, Just Romance: Couples-only, ensuring a romantic atmosphere.
Private Pools: Some properties feature exclusive private pools, allowing for a secluded experience.
"Stay at One, Play at All" Exchange Program
One of Sandals’ biggest perks is that guests at several Sandals resorts in Jamaica can visit select sister resorts nearby for dining and activities. The resorts are conveniently located just a few miles from Sangster International Airport, ensuring a seamless and speedy arrival experience for travelers arriving in Montego Bay.
For example:
Sandals Montego Bay guests can shuttle to Sandals Royal Caribbean, gaining access to 21 total restaurants.
Ocho Rios Resorts (Sandals Ochi, Royal Plantation, Dunn’s River) allow resort-hopping, opening up even more options.
This flexibility lets you experience multiple Sandals resorts in one trip.
Pro Tip: We typically like something larger for our week-long stays, like Sandals Montego Bay. However, while Sandals Royal Caribbean is smaller, the private island on this property is such a cool experience. Utilizing this program allowed us to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Best For: Lively atmosphere, first-time Sandals visitors, beach lovers
Highlights: 12+ restaurants, longest private beach in Montego Bay, overwater bar, wedding chapel
Additional Info: Sandals Montego Bay is the flagship resort for the brand. It's one of the liveliest Sandals resorts, with beach parties, live entertainment, and a social atmosphere. It’s great for couples who want an energetic vacation with a good blend of activities.
Pro-Tip: This is where it all started from Sandals. If you're looking for an experience that combines a good beach, activities and nightlife, and several restaurants, this may be a good fit for you.

Sandals Royal Caribbean – "Laid-Back Elegance with a Private Island"
Located: Montego Bay
Best For: Tranquil, Over-the-Water Bungalows, private island feel
Highlights: Exclusive private island, overwater bungalows, British colonial feel, swim-up bar
Additional Info: The private offshore island is a standout feature, offering guests an extra level of seclusion with its own beach, restaurant, and pool. This resort is perfect for honeymooners and those looking for something laid back.
Pro-Tip: This resort is smaller, so you won't find as many options for dining and activities. However, the private island is a stand out feature! If reading a book on an island escape appeals to you, this may be the perfect getway!

Sandals Negril – "Beach Lovers’ Paradise on Seven Mile Beach"
Located: Negril
Best For: Beachfront relaxation, sunset views, watersports
Highlights: Direct access to Jamaica’s famous Seven Mile Beach, beachfront swim-up suites, unlimited waterskiing
Additional Info: The beach here is one of the best in Jamaica, with crystal-clear waters and endless activities. Sandals Negril has long beach walks, stunning sunsets, and swimming in turquoise waters.
Pro-Tip: I absolutely love the beach here, but it isn't all a private beach. That doesn't bother everyone, but it is something to note. If you love the beach and tons of water sports and activities, this is a great pick!

Additional Info: Set within a 500-acre nature reserve, Sandals South Coast offers true seclusion. The resort has an overwater wedding chapel, making it one of the best places for a destination wedding in Jamaica.
Pro-Tip: I'm a beach bum and love to hang out with a book and a drink. This is personally one of my favorites in the Sandals brand. It's a great spot to unwind and enjoy the two miles of private beach.

Additional Info: With just 74 suites, this is the most intimate Sandals resort in Jamaica, offering personalized service and a sophisticated atmosphere.

Sandals Dunn’s River – "Modern Luxury & Our Top Pick Overall"
Located: Ocho Rios (newest Sandals resort)
Best For: New resort experience, Skypool Suites
Highlights: First-ever Skypool Suites in Jamaica, private plunge pool villas, exclusive rum bar
Additional Info: As the newest Sandals resort, it offers cutting-edge accommodations and a sleek, contemporary feel, making it one of the most luxurious Sandals options in Jamaica.
Pro-Tip: This is probably my favorite of the properties in Jamaica. With the newer Sandals 2.0 theme, they've included newer accommodations and offerings, such as the rum club and coffee shop. We loved that it was the perfect size and blend of activities, on top of being new in 2023. Also, for a great view, get a room in the Mammee Bay building with a private balcony and ocean views of the Caribbean Sea.
